SC grants interim bail to Arnab Goswami ; releases him from Taloja jail.
Arnab Goswami was released from Taloja jail, as his interim bail in the 2018 alleged abetment to suicide case of an interior designer and his mother, by the Supreme Court.
Along with the Republic TV’s Editor in chief, two more men were granted inter bail by Supreme Court today with a Rs 50,000 bond.
After his interim bail plea was refused by Bomby High Court he had approached SC, therefore he had then decided to move to the local Court for relief.
On November 4 , Alibaug police in Raigad district of Maharashtra arrested Arnab and two other accused men in abetment to 2018 suicide case of Anvay Naik and his mother. They Naik family have accused three of them for allegedly not paying dues by the company.
Besides seeking interim bail, Republic TV anchor and the other two have asked for a direction from the high court for staying the investigation and to quash the FIR against them. The plea to squash the FIR will be heard by high court on 10 December.
After being arrested from his Parel residence in Mumbai, Arnab was taken to Alibaug on 4 November.
However, along with Goswami the other two men were taken to a magistrate who later refused to send them all in police custody and decided to keep them in judicial custody upto 18 November.
He was first kept in a local school of Alibaug which is assigned as a Covid-19 isolation center for Alibaug’s prison. Then, on Sunday the journalist was taken to the Raigad district Taloja jail.
