Dilip Joshi aka Jethalal says, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma’s writing has suffered with time.

Dilip Joshi who plays the role of Jethalal Gada in the popular TV show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma said, that with time being the show’s writing has suffered and the humour content in the show has not been upto the mark lately. However, despite of all the flaws the sitcom remains to be one of the most popular Television shows in the history.

While speaking in a special podcast to stand up comedian Sorabh Pant , Dilip revealed that the writers of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma are under a certain pressure as they have to write episodes everyday, which is somewhere in the corner affecting the quality of writing.

He said, “Jab aap quantity dekhte hai, toh kahin na kahin quality suffer hoti hi hai. Pehle weekly hum karte the aur writers ke paas bohot time hota tha. Chaar episode likhe, doosre chaar episode agle mahine shoot karna hai .(When you look for quantity, the quality gets hampered. In the beginning it was a weekly show therefore the writers had a lot of time. Earlier, only four episodes would be shot per month, the writes then had time of about a month to write the next four episodes.) ”

“Now it has become almost like a factory. Every day the writers have to find new subjects. After all, they are also human beings. I agree that all the episodes cannot be of that level when you are doing a daily show for such a long time. I do feel that certain episodes are not up to the mark as far as the humour is concerned, ” Dilip added further.

Disha Vakani who played the role of Jethalal’s wife Dayaben was the heart of the show, but she has been on a maternity leave since two years. She became a mother to a baby girl. Though, there is no definite time of her comeback, the makers have not approached anyone as her replacement.
