RR vs KXIP : IPL fined 10 percent match fee on Chris Gayle for loosing his calm after getting knocked out at 99.
Kings XI Punjab suffered continuous defeats in their first 7 matches of Dream11 Indian Premier League 2020 but, the scene changed soon after international batsman Chris Gayle made a hounding comeback. In his, this season’s first match itself he showed everyone why he is known as the universal boss of T20 cricket. He smashed 53 runs off 45 deliveries against RCB in the 31st match of the tournament.
However, on Friday Gayle missed hitting a century by one run in the match against Rajasthan Royals, Jofra Archer became the reason for Gayle’s dismissal in the death over. Nevertheless, his almost century was studded with huge sixes.
The fact that he missed his first century of the tournament just by a single run, got on Chris’ nerves. While, the 41 year old was expressing his frustration on the field , his bat slipped out of his hand and landed few meters far away from him.
Though, the other players including Archer later realized that the slip-up action was accidental and not deliberate out of anger. Even after Jofra Archer snatched away Gayle’s first century of the season, both were seen shaking hands after the match.
However, the slipping of bat was completely accident, Indian Premiere League administration fined Gayle by 10 percent on his match fees after the after. Notably, Gayle too accepted the sanction and took charge of the Level 1 offence.
An IPL media report was released which stated, ” Mr. Gayle admitted to the Levl 1 offence 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.”
